Curriculum Structure

Key Stage 3 - Years 7, 8 & 9

Pupils study the following subjects:

English, Maths, Science, Religious Studies, Modern Foreign Language, History, Geography, Physical Education, Art & Design, Music, Drama, Information Technology, Design Technology.

One period each week is given to PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education).

Pupils with specific language needs (e.g. literacy, EAL, etc) may follow an adapted timetable with a particular emphasis on additional literacy and numeracy skills.


Key Stage 4 - Years 10 & 11

Core Subjects:

English, Mathematics, Science (Combined Science), Religious Studies, Physical Education (non-exam).

Option subjects

Pupils may select a combination of three further subjects from those listed below. This is dependent on approprate ability and timetable constrants.

Modern Foreign Language; French, Spanish or Polish(Yr10), Business Studies, Finance**, History, Computer Science, Creative Media Production*, Art & Design, Drama, Music*, Product Design (Yr11), Physical Education, Child Development.

Community Languages - Pupils who are proficient in another language may be entered for a GCSE, if it is available. Entry will depend on the ability to cope with the demands of all the various reading, writing, listening and speaking assessments in that langauge.

Pupils with specific additional needs may have an adapted timetable which could include additional literacy & numeracy support – this may include withdrawal for learning support.
